Frequently Asked Questions
If you are hesitating, do not worry - we are here to explain
everything you might want to know. Let us help!
Absolutely, we encourage a dialogue with students and tutors. We believe that in order to gain a new skill it requires your effort, attention to detail, and managing your time productively. That is why in and outside of your session, your tutor will be there to guide you what to focus on and maximize your time by addressing any questions you have, rather than having to waste time searching for answers through the many different resources.
Yes, cancellation is possible. There is no obligation to continue if you feel that you are not benefiting from the sessions. However, in the multitude of students we have worked with, rarely have we been asked for a refund/cancellation.
In our first session, we'll gain your perspective on how you would like our sessions to progress. If you’re uncertain, we understand, you are busy and have lots of work to do. We are happy to create a lesson plan for you based on your timeline until test day. These schedules are personalized to fill content gaps and improve your weaknesses, so that we can be sure to get all those points for STEP day.
Yes, absolutely. The biggest jump in scores students usually make is in the first few weeks of using NMT. The USMLE STEP 1 and 2 CK is first and foremost testing your ability to know the content, but the examiners also want to know if you can reason through questions. We can quickly help you improve your content. However, sometimes it is not the content that students struggle with. It is figuring out what the question is asking. NMT tutors specialize in teaching our specific method of how to correctly approach questions and dissect what the examiner is really asking you. Making it easy to apply your knowledge and increase your STEP score.
Our STEP tutors are all trained to understand that each student must be familiar with the USMLE content checklist found on the official website. Therefore, while the resources vary, the end goal is making sure that the student has covered all the testable content as outlined per the official checklist. Moreover, our STEP tutors are familiar with all forms of resources, including and not limited to: Goljian's audio lectures, Pathoma, Boards and Beyond, First Aid, Sketchy, Pixorize, Osmosis, Netter's Atlas of anatomy, BRS board review series, Lippincotts textbook of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and are experts in Qbanks like UWorld and Amboss.
